I've got a couple of manis to show you using Red Christmas Stocking nail decorations from Charlies Nail Art. They come in a pack of two, are flat backed and are reusable. I attached the Red Christmas Stocking nail decorations while the top coat was still wet however nail glue will be a more secure option.
