Avon Mark Gel Shine Nail Enamels - Holographic Capture & Futurist

The Avon Brochure 7 in the UK see’s the launch of 9 new dazzling shades in the Mark Gel Shine range.

3 of the shades have holographic pigments, 2 of which I’m going to show you today. The other 6 have pearl or shimmer finishes and swatches will follow over the next couple of weeks.

Drum roll please for your royal Holoness……… Holographic Capture & Futurist.
I’ve taken photos with and without my camera flash. In the bright sunshine or bright lighting, the holo pigments come to life and are mesmerising. Check out my video below.

HOLOGRAPHIC CAPTURE

 FUTURIST

So what did I do with my manis? First of all a little bit of sponging to blend the two shades together (left with camera flash, right without)
Then I stamped with cupcakes
As ever the nail enamels painted wonderfully and I applied 2 coats.

I’ve been informed by Avon that all their nail enamels are 5-Free (free of Formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor). 10ml bottle.

Basic Tutorial for a Sponged Gradient using Avon Mark Gel Shine Nail Enamels

Welcome to an easy peasy tutorial showing you some basic nail art designs and effects, this week sponged gradient. Using two or more colours with a sponge to create a blended gradient, and as like the previous tutorial for french tips, it's a great way to revitalise an old mani.  My nails were already painted the berry shade.
Using a sponge, any sponge, bath, make up, kitchen (thrifty me uses a kitchen sponge, the one you buy in a pack of 20 with a scourer on one side), paint the nail polish in stripes, it doesn't matter if they overlay this will all add to the blending of the colours.
Pat/dab onto your nails, it is messy and you'll need to clean up after.  Sponge one set of nails and repeat until you build up the depth of colour you want to achieve.
Using nail polish remover and a make up brush I tidy up and remove the polish on my skin, I know Avon does a natty nail polish corrector pen which would be handy at this point.
Apply top coat and the blended shades will merge together and you have a unique gradient mani in whatever colour combo you like.
For this mani I used Avon Mark Gel Shine Very Berry & Purplicious

NailHugs Nail Appliqués - Advintage

PRESS SAMPLE
I've been nail blogging for 5 years and thought I knew most nail art applications.  But 2 weeks ago I came across a suggested post on Facebook for NailHugs which are nail appliqués. The post included a video of the application of the transfers which I'd never seen the like before.  With NailHugs having over 95K likes on Facebook and over 10K followers on Instagram, where have I been!  I was intrigued with NailHugs and I contacted them to discover what they were all about.  I was pleasantly surprised when Alexandra contacted me and asked me to review NailHugs.  NailHugs is Alexandra's brain child and she designs of all the patterns.  NailHugs are based in Canada and offer FREE worldwide shipping.  Within a few days I received my NailHugs.  This is my first attempt and got the hang of the application very quickly.  I've made my own video which is below and for a first attempt I think I did pretty well.
So first up, a photo of my manicure using 'AdvintageNailHugs over a red and pinked sponged base.
The twin pack contains 2 strips of NailHugs, full instructions and a birchwood/orange stick

The reverse of the NailHugs provides the design's name and handy cut out guidelines

Simply cut out a decal to fit the size of your nail, I cut out quite a big piece but I will know for next time.  Gently peel from the white backing paper and apply the applique tacky side down to your dry nail.  Rub the top of the clear protective layer to transfer the design onto your nail.  Clean up and seal with regular or UV top coat (make sure you top coat all around the free nail edge and use 2 coats if using regular top coat).

The NailHugs Advintage Twin Pack Appliqués are currently reduced during July at $9.22 USD / $11.95 CAD / £6.95 GBP / €8.33 EUR with FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

You can also keep up with all the latest NailHugs info on Facebook & Instagram.
