Silver & Purple Half Moon Mani

The lunula (little moon in Latin) is the crescent-shaped whitish area of the bed of a fingernail or toenail. The lunula is the visible part of the root of the nail.  The half moon mani is a play on the half moon area of your nail, a curved shape at the base of your nail with a contrasting colour covering the rest of your nail.  It's a bit like doing a french tip only lower down.

Now using the curved circular stickers raided from my mum's craft box, I applied the circular sticker to the base of my nail which has already been painted in Avon Metallics Platinum Petal and sealed with top coat.  It's a good idea to apply top coat as removing any mistakes with the contrasting colour will be easier to clean up.  Make sure you nail is completely dry before adding any sticker or guide to your nail.
Apply your contrasting colour, and immediately remove the sticker/guide. Tidy up and seal with Top Coat, easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Born Pretty Store Chameleon Starry Nail Polish BPC001

PRESS SAMPLE
Born Pretty Store have a range of 'Chameleon Starry' Nail polishes in 5 different shades, which give a sparkly foil like effect.  They are to be used over a black base to enhance the pigments in the polish.  You could apply the polish without a black base but you'd have to apply more coats to build up the intensity of the effect.  I applied 2 coats over a black base and applied top coat, the result is gorgeous!  This is shade BPC001, a bronze/gold with a splattering of holographic sparkle.   I would love to try the other 4 shades in the series, I'm sure they'd be just as mesmerizing as this one.  My photos below are with camera flash.  Check out my video demonstration below.

Basic Tutorial for a Sponged Gradient using Avon Mark Gel Shine Nail Enamels

Welcome to an easy peasy tutorial showing you some basic nail art designs and effects, this week sponged gradient. Using two or more colours with a sponge to create a blended gradient, and as like the previous tutorial for french tips, it's a great way to revitalise an old mani.  My nails were already painted the berry shade.
Using a sponge, any sponge, bath, make up, kitchen (thrifty me uses a kitchen sponge, the one you buy in a pack of 20 with a scourer on one side), paint the nail polish in stripes, it doesn't matter if they overlay this will all add to the blending of the colours.
Pat/dab onto your nails, it is messy and you'll need to clean up after.  Sponge one set of nails and repeat until you build up the depth of colour you want to achieve.
Using nail polish remover and a make up brush I tidy up and remove the polish on my skin, I know Avon does a natty nail polish corrector pen which would be handy at this point.
Apply top coat and the blended shades will merge together and you have a unique gradient mani in whatever colour combo you like.
For this mani I used Avon Mark Gel Shine Very Berry & Purplicious
